I'm not such a fan of this increasing trend towards "alternative programming". It started with Popstars and Pop Idol and those ridiculous muggle programmes and it's even infested the WWN: Wizard Idol and Magical Duets. They're inane and don't require any sort of talent to produce. Sure they're good for a laugh or two, at least through the auditions, but really, if you look at the results for the Muggle programmes, hardly any of the stars or bands "created" go on to do anything meaningful or have long standing careers. Besides the fact that while the majority of these programmes are heavily edited, they don't carry any sort of plot and in general pander to the lowest common denominator.
And before you ask, no this rant was most certainly not brought to you by the fact that I just found out Culture Clash will be airing opposite Magical Duets.
In other, more exciting news: in honour of... today ending in a y, there's going to be a rockin' party at my flat. Single, attached, married and boring (I'm looking at you, Runt), anyone and everyone is invited!
